JON THAXTON ENDORSES JOE BARBETTA
As an elected official you are warned of the perils of endorsing
candidates. This is good advice and a rule that I typically follow.
However because of the deceiving and misleading ad campaign which has
recently been launched against candidate Joe Barbetta, I am making a
rare exception for the District 2 County Commission race. These ads
intentionally distort and maliciously attack Joe, rather than highlight
the qualifications of the other candidates. I take issue with this
cowardly approach and so should every resident in Sarasota County. We
now know what lies at the bottom of the barrel.
While the other candidates in the race do offer unique qualifications,
if your concern is that growth pays its fair share for infrastructure
and is not approved until the infrastructure is in place, Joe is your
candidate. If you are concerned about preserving Sarasota County's
natural environment, Joe is a sure bet. If your concern is for
protecting the character of our neighborhoods, you can do no better
than Joe Barbetta. I say this with confidence not because of campaign
promises, but because this is exactly what Joe has been doing as a
Sarasota County Planning Commissioner for over 14 years. That's how
you earn my vote, and Joe Barbetta has it!
